Not sure if it's only me but do you think BlackBerry should bring back the "Power Off" option by just hitting the "Power Off" icon? I found it very convenient oppose to having to hold the power button on top of the phone for three seconds. All the BBOS have this but I am really surprised it didn't make it to BB10 on any levels. What do y'all folks think?

Well, I will give you my reason why. I have a spare z10 that has NO functioning power button. That is, when I press it, nothing happens. I would love to purchase an app to be able to shut my device off. I guess I could go to get it repaired but at this point it would probably cost almost as much as the phone itself is worth. An app would be a much more economical method for me and would be much appreciated.

Would be a nice touch for me--see explanation above.

It is important for me. There are times I need to shut down my device and to hold for 3+ seconds to me is a waste of time. On the BBOS devices it was a one touch and boom, on with life.

Except that power of button didn't turn a BBOS phone off because it could take many minutes to boot a BBOS device depending on how many apps were installed and how many had to run on boot. It basically put it in a low power settings and airplane mode.

Yeah, this is what I would like in my situation. Or better yet, a power off app/icon like I had on my old Palm Pixi that had multiple options: powerdown/airplane mode/developer mode/restart/etc.

If your power button is bork'd, then how would you turn your phone back on?

It's always on. I place it face down and use Flip to save power in Advanced Interaction like any normal, sane, human would do.

Not quite--I'm still in the game with "Flip to save power".

Pull the battery out and put it back in.

Which while I'm at it suggests a way to shut it down. Take the back off, hold the volume up and down buttons until it reboots. When the red light comes on pull the battery out and leave it out until you want it on again.

I'd like an on-screen button to put my Z30 to sleep. The button at the top of the phone is a bit of a reach.

I don't really mind holding the power button, as much as the "hit and miss" method of turning the power on. Sometimes it comes on, sometimes it doesn't.

Not a bad idea, but since there are probably only 2 employees left that work on BB10 changes like that must be very far down on the to-do list.

While this maybe should be on the list of what they should do, it's also should be very far down that list.

Yeah, it's not high on anyone's priority but it could be a simple app to develop for a 3rd party dev. Not so sure if many would buy it though.

I don't believe that there is an API exposed to shut down the phone.
