When I start typing email address in Hub to send message to, it shows up "Look up...".
I'm not sure what does that do.

Are you sure you are in the compose screen and not the main email tab in the hub? Remember to press compose before entering the email at the CC bar

The OP is talking about when he's entering an email address in the email field.

Basically, the system tries to find any addresses/names within your contacts that match the partial text you have already entered. If it can't quickly find it or it doesn't match anything it also gives a "Look up" option at the bottom. If you tap on that it turns what you've entered into a red placeholder, but doesn't let you send it as it's not a valid email address.

Sounds like it doesn't do anything other than let you put in a place holder and remind you to "look up" their email address later. Or maybe it's meant to allow you to search an exchange directory (for those provisioned for it).

It allows you to search online address books associated with your accounts. As far as I know only exchange active sync is supported.

It's an ActiveSync directory lookup feature.

BlackBerry should really hide it for account types that don't support it.
