    When selection an email, or many emails you just click the icon, its always available, and if you mess up and click on an email then click back all your items are still selected. BB10's method works, but why be different if its worse?

    For starters, it's different because we don't have a back button as part of the work flow.

    How is it worse? You just select and then tap it again if you didn't mean to select it?
