At the suggestion of others I backed up my device and then started a system wipe. It's now on hour 4 when should I become concerned?

It takes a very long time depending on what you had on your device memory. Instead of security wiping, if you have a computer available I would suggest getting an autoloader for the OS version you have and running it. Basically results in the same thing... in 20 minutes or so (plus the ~1Gb download time).

Since it's in the middle of the wipe how do you suggest I make that happen?

You could just try running the autoloader... would be interesting to see if it goes through or not.

I really wouldn't recommend that. Interrupting a wipe is asking for trouble. Wait it out.

Again. Don't do this. Wait it out. Mine took some ridiculous amount of time to wipe as well, but it did in fact finish the process.

yes I've read the threads on pulling the battery during a security wipe. So no I won't be bricking the device. The good news is the circle was spinning faster last time I checked.

You should be wiping when you're about to go to bed so you won't have to wait. When you wake up it's done.

Yikes... and I thought mine took awhile (somewhere between 6 and 8h... I was sleeping). Not sure at which point you draw the line.

How much data do you have in your device? Do you also have an sd card? What size? Is the sd card full? I'm not sure if the sd card is also wiped during security wipe, but it it is and you have lots of files in there, maybe that's why it's taking too long.

Sd card is unaffected by a security wipe... unless it's encrypted, in which case the data will become inaccessible (wipe erases encryption key).

I would have risked trying the autoloader by now... ridiculous that someone has to go without a phone for more than a few hours. What if it's that person's main mode of communication?

Pull battery once or twice... it will cancel it out... It was mentioned long ago... that during a security wipe... after the first hour if it hasn't finished you can do that... it's pretty much done...

Autoloader don't detect the phone at first time.
I must restarting a few times trying pressing VOL + or VOL -, I don't rememeber what key but after a few tries it works.
Only solution for me, but works!
