My searches take 15-25 seconds for any results. I have limited the number of criteria to search and that has not affected the time. I have also turned off search history to no avail. I've turned off the phone and restarted as well. The icon was blazing fast when i first used it but now it is useless. Any help?

Did you remove browser from the search? If you have a lot in browser history and/or bookmarks, that could have an effect.

As would having all the items under "Extended" options. I have that limited to Google, rather than searching Bing and Yahoo as well, since the results are so similar.

As for "restarting"... Did you use the reboot method of pressing and holding both up/down volume keys until the device powers off/powers on, and you see the startup animation? If not, give that a try.

    Hope this helps.

After a process of elimination, I have determined the culprit to be my contacts. When I unchecked them everything runs smoothly. I guess it is the 100 or so groups of redundant entries that keep multiplying in my contacts list. I have over 1500 contacts, mostly facebook contacts. But still it worked fine when the phone was new...
