I personally like the camera button because it made the focusing a bit more convenient since it gave access to the tap-to-focus feature, and also was able to out a nice video button right beside it for convenience.

Touching the screen would be one-dimensional, and required you to switch tabs to get to videos.

You realize you can simply drag the focus point around the screen, right?

I'm often having to try to take photos of equipment from behind (serial numbers, connectors, etc...) which usually requires me to reach into awkward places. It's nice to be able to hold the phone and tap anywhere on the screen since I can't always see the screen or even the phone while I'm taking a photo.

I hate the button with a passion!! Too much attention is required to make sure you touch the button. It was way easier to tap the screen.
I'm not sure why people think that focus point could not be moved in the pre 10.3 releases. All you had to do is drag the square.
The button makes sense for people who are not used to the simplicity of touching the screen. Every time I had a non BlackBerry using friend take a picture on my the inevitable question gets asked "how do I take the picture?". I've experienced this for 2 years without fail. Simply because there is no visual cue on screen.
So far, this is the only thing I truly HATE about 10.3. I hope BlackBerry fix this - perhaps by making it configurab.

I've missed a few photographs as I attempted to land on the button.

I'd still be happier if BlackBerry returned to the screen touch.

Camera button is good. Touch screen for focus point, and a dedicated camera button is a good design.

I prefer the button. Less accidental presses that way.

I prefer the button. The camera I feel focuses faster,as there were times prior when I'd try to take a picture but it was either out of focus or the software would assume I was trying to focus and not take a picture.

I don't really give a monkeys uncle either way.

I'm more concerned about the quality of the pictures it takes.

I want fast capture response and focus... this newer OS seems better.

What I would also love to see is the ability to snap a pic using the headset button on the earphones to remotely operate the shutter button.

It's a distinction that makes the BB camera weird if you are familiar with pretty much every other phone OS/app on the planet. Sometimes, different is just inconvenient. I say NO to NO camera button.

I also like tap screen to take picture better. Also, 10.2.x OS camera app versions offer faster autofocus. It's one of the many reasons for me to stay on 10.2 OS.

The auto focus is so much faster on the latest 10.3 OS.

Good news for 10.3 users, if it's true. Took BlackBerry months to figure it out.

And that has absolutely nothing to do with the shutter-release method and everything to do with the focus logic.
