Here in Mexico it's very difficult to buy sim free smartphones you have to get one from the carriers, and the carriers don't sell the high-end phones without a contract paying like 150$ monthly for 2 years, and if you want to get a contract free or sim free mobiles, you have to get one from retail shops who markup the prices to have earnings.

And since we only have 3-4 carriers in Mexico (Movistar, Telcel, iusacell, unefon) they always win massive earnings with the contracts. So non-contract phones are no business to them.

Well in Canada, we save up our money first, and then we get distracted and end up buying a polar bear or a gallon of maple syrup.

That's how we do it eh?

    Haha haha. Lol...

You save the money... but then something happen, you have to pay government taxes, then you have to pay the guy who sells it, then you have to pay taxes for using the phone, then you have to pay an amount of money monthly so the companies know you're using the phone so they can't cancel your number (prepaid mode).

A well built igloo isn't as easy to come by as they used to be. The building material just isn't the same, plus global warming has been a real issue.

Wait, no.. OP, you are being ripped of. Are you planning on buying from "Telcel condesa"? Don't they do get the phones first but also charge a ridiculous amount of dollar.

Honestly, there are far more intelligent options than going to any Authorized Reseller. I got my Z30 directly from a Centro de Atencion a Clientes for the ridiculous amount of 5300MXN, which is about 400USD . I had to wait 3 months for the phone to arrive, but it was extraordinary cheap.

If you live in DF, you'll have to wait even less. I predict you'll get it in November for somewhere around 12000MXN . I'll also remind you that due to a new bill, every carrier is obligated to sell their off-contract phones unlocked and not charge a single dime for it, meaning that even if you are not a Telcel customer, you could walk in there, purchase an unlocked passport and stick your other carriers SIM card straight out of the box.

Another great thing you could do is order it from Shop BlackBerry US in this very second, because they ship to Mexico and there is only one Passport model, so there's no way you can't go wrong with network compatibility. It is also cheaper. Even with S&H and the 16% import taxes, it ends up being less than 10000MXN (if you choose to pay in USD).

Come on, OP. 1700USD? That's what the Porsches retail for.. do you even Mexico?

EDIT: forgot it's out of stock on ShopBB, just catch it when it is.

Global warming only seems to affect our igloos any time the prime minister, the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, travels anywhere in the country outside of Ottawa. The Inuit Elders call it "The Franklin Expedition" but the younger members of the nation claim David Suzuki is to blame.
