So, installing leaked OS updates, having troubles with restoring backups. Lose wifi passwords every time, and having my buddy have to re-enter his every time I'm over is getting annoying.

Android seems to back that stuff up online with my Google account, does BlackBerry have something similar? Is there an app that can access these passwords at all? Save them between installs?

I guess I should figure out what's messing up my backups...

I don't know of any way to access those settings.
What problems are you having restoring backups?

The restoration process is the part that hangs and not the backing up, correct? If so, are you attempting full restores or partials? A lot of users have reported that the process hangs when they try to fully restore everything, settings, media and app data together. There seems to be much better success with restoring each part separately and in your case, wifi password info is saved in the settings partition.

Though a clean OS load is optimal to avoid old data from corrupting anything and degrading the user experience, I think you have less of a chance of this happening if you avoid restoring app data and stick with the settings and media (if you don't want/can't move it to an SD card).
