RUMOR: BBM on BB10 ending in Feb/2018

What? BlackBerry can't be serious:

"According to some rumors that come directly from the BlackBerry, it seems that, like WhatsApp, BlackBerry also wants to force the latest BB10 users to migrate to other places (read Android) ending the BBM service for BB10 scheduled for late February 2018. in this occasion, it provided that the rumor is correct, even the most reducible users who are interested in the BBM will drop what they're calling the app precursor of instant messaging services."

At the end BlackBerry OS defeat by it's ecosystems application like WhatsApp LinkedIn Facebook etc.
Based on that symptoms big ecosystems application can kill or make certain OS phone more famous.

This particular story seems not totally credible, but I can see support for the BB10 version of BBM getting worse over time. The BlackBerry way isn't to announce something is EOL and then cleanly end support. Their way is to starve the product of proper support, understaff it, have it become pretty broken, and *then* announce it's EOL. I think that's what we'll see from BBM on BB10 over the next year.

My understanding is the same as yours, BBM/Emtek is not supporting the BB10 version. That's totally up to BlackBerry, and there is little financial incentive for Chen to invest in a proper team to maintain this app. I think he'll just let it slowly flounder.

That's interesting, so the (Italian) author, and or the publisher, will cop a hefty fine if it's fake .....

I doubt it since they say it is a rumor. They do not say this is a fact. If the article had said BlackBerry was definitely not updating BBM for BB10 without foundation and sources that is fake knews. The article says a rumor from a source inside Blackberry which could be a janitor, security guard, or building maintenance tech, said... As long as they use the word rumor it is not news, the story is gossip.

Also you would have to define support and what BlackBerry plans are for February 2018. Anyway it doesn't matter the article is a gossip piece not a news article.
