Did you do a restore or just a clean install? A number of people had issues doing restores with 2072... which would be the same for OTA upgrades... times several thousand users.
True, but many were restoring from other leaks - which is the biggest problem.

I must wipe the phone, because an app update (123 banking) bricked my Z30
Takes me 2 hours to debrick the phone.

After the autoloader installation I restored from an 10.3.1.1154 backup.

I just remember last year when 10.2.1 was released.... lots and lots of new users came here looking for answers to problems with the update. Most of them were official to official users.

That would be fantastic news, if it comes to pass.

Absolutely, BBRY should push their OS updates direct, instead of waiting for the slow moving telcos.

If true, would be awesome and welcome news!

Here's a question. My 16GB Z30 uses 3.69GB as "System files" I only have 1.39 GB free after apps and user files. How much free space do I need to replace my current OS with the new OS? I assume the new one is a little larger.. but it has to put it (at least zipped) somewhere. I have tons of space on my SD card but I don't think BB will use this? Should we be allowing for more free space? How much? 3GB, 4GB, 5GB? I would have to delete a lot of apps and user files for that.

BlackBerry releases globally is good thing for carrier so it saves more money/resources/headache by letting BlackBerry take all the loads. I'm sure it makes carrier very happy since it saves them lot of money/headache.

Not the way it's setup now.

BlackBerry has a very small support team for escalated issues only.

Carriers are currently the first line of support.

Was just reading up on the famous DHabkirk's BBM Channel when I saw this:
    Attachment 328378

So basically, rumor has it that we won't have to wait for Carriers to release os updates anymore!

For me, I am not worried about it, whether the updates will come from BlackBerry or from carrier, because of crackberry team and crackberry members. I will still have it on time.

Maybe. But, wouldn't the servers do the roll-out at their own capacity?

Then again, I guess the wild-card would be all the people grabbing it for themselves through Sachesi as soon as possible.

    I can see it happening.

I'm theorizing that one of the difficulties carriers had is that based on current sales volume, they cannot maintain staff that is knowledgeable in these devices, so it may be economical to just let BBRY handle that.

For example, if ATT only gets a handful of Blackberry 10 support calls per week, it does not make sense to have a team of people to get up to speed on the devices, test the software, update their online help etc.

For business accounts (like I have), ATT for example, does NOT provide support. They ask you to contact your corporate IT that provisions your devices for support, so that takes a lot of Blackberries out, leaving fewer devices for them to support.

But the installed non-BES BlackBerry base is still somewhere between 50 and 75 million users. BlackBerry could not possibly provide front line global support spanning 20 different languages for this. Not even close.

If we work on the assumption that carriers have not yet tested this new OS, then I agree. But as other posters have pointed out, this OS has probably already been blessed by the carriers. BlackBerry would be destroying whatever carrier relationships they have left if they released a carrier untested OS to the masses.

Time will tell. We will find out on the 27th.

Most probably they've been having carriers test the OS since last year and once all carriers are on board they'll release it globally, thus giving the impression of direct push (because everybody gets it at BlackBerry's GO!)

the carriers are barely able to support anything at all (that being my carrier = ATT) & will likely be delighted not to have BBOS to support when all the problems arise...

I feel like also saying "I'll believe it when I see it". If they do manage it, and it works with minor faults, Im happy. And I do believe that it'll strengthen the relationship with the customers. Which if they're looking to go into direct sales to compete with apple (I wish because I'm' so freaking sick of apple) then this is a great start. However I do worry about how it will impact the relationship with the carriers, as most people will not go out of their way to select a phone that isn't offered by their contractor. I hope I'm wrong.

Hadn't thought of that. I think 10M might be a bit on the low side, but close enough.

Still a lot of users moving all simultaneously to a new OS, speaking many different languages. Too many for BlackBerry's small support team, that's for sure.

What about BlackBerry officially redirecting to CrackBerry for support?
