Can I restore contacts from an old backup just to retrieve one contact and then restore back to the latest again?

Will it have any duplicates?

Restore from backup using link is an overwrite procedure. It overwrites the current dB with what's in the backup. So in short...yes
However, backup on bb10 only contains contacts if they were "local" stored contacts at time of backup.
Also, you can't just restore contacts. You will overwrite many databases.

Was it local, cloud or sim stored?

If local backup phone as is right now. Restore old backup. Manually write down missing contact info.
Restore backup from today. Manually enter the written down contact.

If cloud or sim... SOL

It is stored locally. But you can't just restore contacts alone via the link?

On bb10 with BBLink contact to is lumped together with a whole bunch of databases. It's not separate like on old bbos

What Drizz suggested is so easy.. you can do an app backup today, and then an app restore from old backup to be able to see and copy any lost information manually. You don't have to do a full backup and restore to retrieve app information.
