Hello all, first time poster, appreciative of any advice. Tried doing a search for this topic but can't seem to find anything (or am just doing it wrong).

I want to keep the Facebook app, but do not want FB notifications in the Hub or calendar (esp. birthdays, etc). Is there any way I can do this?

    Thanks in advance...

The only way to do this, and I say this because I'm doing it, is to delete the native BlackBerry Facebook app, and install an Android version. The one I use because I find it runs the smoothest, is version 28.0.0.20.16. You can find a download link by Googling this Facebook version. You'll also probably want to install the Android Messenger app as well. The one I use is version 25.0.0.17.14. Once the Facebook app is installed, log on, and go into the app settings and turn off notifications. This will prevent the app from sending notifications to the hub. It also will not sync with your calendar, or contacts app as it is Android.

I will warn you that BlackBerry 10.3.2 will only run Facebook for Android up to version 31, and Messenger up to version 25, ( I think). Version 31 of Facebook though is quite slow and laggy. That's why I'm using version 28.0.0.20.16. It's about as close as you'll get to a native experience. Good luck.

Does the Android version of messenger work headless in the hub once you sign in? I like getting message notifications without ALL other notifications but I can't separate the two using the native app.

And then sometimes with the native app, notifications come back after I've deleted them!

Yes. The Android Facebook Messenger stays running in the background even when closed. Don't worry though, as it only uses very little battery over a day. The Facebook app is hit and miss I find. Sometimes it runs in the background, and sometimes not, but if you're not wanting notifications like me, then it's not an issue.

At that point you may as well delete the app and just use http://m.facebook.com, surely?

I deleted FB 6 weeks ago. I haven't signed in since. It's wonderful. Although Reddit seems to have filled that time...

The Android Facebook app actually has a better UI, so it's better than the mobile Facebook page on the browser. I've tried both, as well as several third party Facebook apps off Google Play and Amazon. I keep coming back to version 28.0.0.20.16, because it just simply gives me the best Facebook experience on my BlackBerry.

Unfortunately, even that version is slow to launch. And the messenger app, once closed, didn't stay running. Whenever I relaunch it, it asks about syncing contacts and asks me to provide my number. So it looks like I'll be skipping those.

Once I have googled that version of Facebook and messenger for my bb passport se, exactly how did you install the app onto the phone itself? Thanks.

Download the apk's, making sure your device is set to allow apps to install from other sources. This is set in your App Manager in settings. Then simply open the apk file, and it will install automatically.

Just turn those things off in the app settings.

Not true. It only uses about 1.5% throughout the entire day when I'm not using it at all.
