Remember that cinnamon toast thing that turned the Z10's screen on when you picked it up? I got it working!

Well, not quite. But I did discover some interesting interference that acts like it. I had my phone sitting on the front of my PlayBook's cover. It must have been sensing something as the Z10's screen was turning on (bypassing the lock screen) when I went to pick it up.

It was repeatable about 40% of the time, and some precice placement on the PlayBook's cover was required.

Not quite getting what you mean.
Might be my fault... Haven't had my coffee yet!

I was a little sad this feature didn't make it to the final release, too.

Are we sure that it was completely dropped and not going to be picked up in later updates?

    No, not completely sure.
I can't recall BBRY ever saying anything formal about it.

Then again, remember that BBRY never said anything formal about the feature in the first place either. We only knew of it from some leaked documents.

Sounds like you're activating the sleep magnets in the Z10.

Same thing happened to me when I set my z10 directly on my blue tooth mini speaker. I assumed it was the magnetic sleep function

    I don't think there's a sleep magnet in the PlayBook's case...

I have the case. Is has a magnet for the closure. It's activating the magnet in the phone. This happened to me the other day

The same things happen when I place my phone in a specific position on my Dell laptop. Definitely the sleep magnets and nothing like cinammon toast I'm afraid

I know it's not cinnamon toast, I was joking about that

I have a small magnet that I waved around my phone - it didn't wake up.

I can't seem to find the holster settings in the phone, where did they go?

    Yes.

Trying to pinpoint this. Where's the magnetic sensor in the Z10?

It was probably the magnet in the playbook speakers then. Magnet should be located near the LED on z10. I believe.

I think BlackBerry has stopped developing this...but that doesn't mean it's dead, it may show up in an altered manner.

My feeling is that it must be the speaker magnets since it is easily reproducible with the BlackBerry blue tooth mini speaker. I think that cinnamon toast would just use the accelerometer to sense when the device had been lifted and therefore the placement of the object wouldn't matter. Even if BlackBerry did cease development on this feature and I have read that they did, I will remind everyone that the accelerometer is due to be opened up to developer use in the 10.2 SDK's API so combined with headless app abilities a 3rd party dev could relatively easily sell an app that would make this feature possible.
