Another of the countless frustrations with this platform: one cannot start typing a phone number in the dial pad and then paste the rest. For example, if I'm out of the country and someone's phone number is in their email as (212) 555-1212, I can't copy that, go to dial pad, type "+1" the Paste the rest of the number. It deletes what I typed and replaces it with the number exactly as copied.

Utter stupidity and incompetence of programming and testing, once again.

Good catch, I think BlackBerry would like to know about this one!

I'll let someone who knows what they're talking about answer this one, but I'd just use twitter for a quick response.

    It's not a solution but a workaround :
Paste first, then go back and type the prefix. It works

I don't see how to do that. There is no "cursor" in the phone number field in dial pad mode. Once I paste the number, I don't see how to go to the beginning of the number to add the prefix.

See below - I don't see how I can go back to the "left" of the "(212)" to add the prefix:

The only way for customers to give direct feedback is thry the Beta Zone:

The last time I Tweeted a bug to them, they verified the bug and told me to go through my carrier and open a ticket.

It truly is brilliant. Why waste an hour on the phone when your carrier can do it for you?

But I'll be wasting an hour on the phone with my carrier, and we all know nothing will happen.

I stopped by the store, showed them the bug and what the BB Twitter account instructed me to do, and they took care of the rest. Took me 10 minutes before getting groceries.

    What was the bug?

One was the inability to fullscreen YouTube videos to HDMI. That is now an option in 10.2. Another was on the %b macro for Autotext not working; that hasn't been addressed yet.

You can also try mailing [email protected]. You won't get a response, but they do read every email. It's mainly set up for feature requests, but there's a good chance that bug reports would be passed on as well.

I have tried the solution proposed by djvetijo; it does not work. I paste the phone number in the field in the middle tab and manually added the prefix, but I have no option to dial the number which is now display:

You can paste that number into the search bar and then add your prefix.

I had trouble getting the paste icon to show up if I tried typing +1 beforehand.

EDIT: I got the paste icon to show up by tapping on the cursor to get the ring, then long-pressing on the ring. This way you can directly start typing "+1" from the home screen, then paste your number.

Again, doesn't work. When I paste the number to dial into Search, the "Action" to dial that number does not appear, either before or after I type of the "+1":

What OS are you on? I'm on 10.2 and I have the search option to call a number. At least it is coming to the search app.

This is one of those things I have never thought of and I'm sure BlackBerry overlooked. I would expect it to be added if it is brought to their attention. In the mean time, past the number into the search Window, add the +1, and recopy it. While it's not ideal, it will work until this is fixed.

    Posted via CB10

Edit: it actually seems as if you can't copy from the search field...looks like you will have to start a new text or email to add the +1 and recopy the number. hopefully this is fixed soon for you because this seems like an annoying work around...

10.1.0.4100 (or something like that - latest MR for T-Mobile USA). Lovely workaround. Might as well use a piece of paper, a pen and manually dial.

Seriously, BlackBerry? Did you do even one test of this platform before release? Did you do even one test of this platfor before releasing the MR's? Did you think at all, even in the slightest?

    Pathetic.
