No, it's a BlackBerry OS using an Android Runtime setup, there's really no access to the core features that would let you root them.

    No and no.

You can't root a BlackBerry Z10 or unlock its bootloader. The BlackBerry Z10 doesn't run Android either. It runs BlackBerry 10. So you get what they give you and nothing more.

Personally speaking, I would love to have the option to unlock the bootloader on BlackBerry hardware. Especially on the PlayBook, which would be awesome with KitKat running on it, but sadly, you never actually own BlackBerry hardware in the same way that you can fully own other hardware.

Not even possible to login as root? I am curious about this as I would like to put custom domains on the hosts.

Well isn't the purpose of rooting an Android to gain system settings usually unavailable to the user and being able to install apps via 3rd party? In a fashion, the Android is already rooted for except the system settings. You can only gain access to the normal settings and developers settings via a Android launcher. But to answer the question in full purpose of rooting, no, you can't because it's not the full OS, more like a small section of Android
