Understandable. I have only used autoloaders to get early access to new versions for development testing myself. I've not had to wipe or re-load for performance reasons.

Op you can securely wipe using security and privacy from your BlackBerry options

Then you can use executables like SIC multiwipe to wipe 'til bricking your phone.

This process will erase any bar/os file on your phone which will end up on blinking red state.

This process was before previously handled with BBSAK on BBOS 5,6,7.

Do this only if you know what you are doing and you don't panic easily.

Some people have had wipes take longer. The only reason to do a security wipe is for security reasons. When I wiped my Z10LE that I had since launch it took 45 minutes. It all depends on what it has to do. If you do an autoloader first it always takes less time and you get the same result.

I don’t just want to wipe the device… it has a condition where the battery charge indicator doesn’t work properly and shuts off the phone at around 20% charge, or drops from 100% to 50% charge in a matter of hours, or runs at 0% for a day or so; wiping and reinstalling OS won’t fix it..
The battery holds a charge for about 48 hours, so it is the software (or supporting hardware) that is malfunctioning.
I do not have a problem bricking it, as long as I can restore the OS through Link or other means.
I used BBSAK before and I am not faint-hearted.

SIC multiwipe has been mentioned a few times now. It is th� tool you want to Erase/Brick/Clear your BlackBerry device. I have not seen or heard about any other tool that would be more comprehensive.
Afterwards connect to BlackBerry Link and select Reload, it will download and install the latest OS (basically an automatic autoloader).

There's a really easy tutorial for it, I have used it as recently as two days ago to Wipe and Reload my Passport.

(N.B.: always UnEncrypt your SD card and if you want to sell your device after reloading be sure to Disable BlackBerry Protect before Wiping!)
