I think it would be cool if BBRY implemented a shortcut/multitasking menu. The this example, I'll call it the Quick menu.

With this, the user can easily access their favorite app or active running app with a simple corner swipe up or down. Up for active apps. Down for app shortcuts.

A swipe from any corner of the screen will slide out the Quick menu similar to the screenshot. The (any) corner gesture would be easy accessible for right/left, big/small handed users. The screenshot is an example of a user activating the Quick menu by the left top or bottom corner gesture. Sliding in from the left. Vice versa if swiped from the right top or bottom corner, the Quick menu will slide in from the right and stay in the right side of the screen. And again, the actions would be:

Top Left - Quick Menu Shortcuts
Bottom Left - Quick Menu Active Apps
Top Right - Quick Menu Shortcuts
Bottom Right - Quick Menu Active Apps



All is needed by the developer is a Quick menu app icon, similar to making a Hub icon.

The Quick menu is not to be confused with Peek. You may have to do some intense imagining for this concept. The screenshot is using content from the Hub (Peek). You'll have to visualize icons of your favorite apps.

Thought of this exact idea as well except from one designated corner. Problem is the top is already quick settings and bottom is peak.

Would need to be on the side and probably the entire side bezel to be less confusing. This would leave only the right side since the left might activate swipe back.
