Hello everyone, I really a big fan of the BB OS ,but since RIM themselves have confirmed it's dead can we have a petition to get it opened sourced for developers out there to take advantage of it and make it better for the rest of us. ? What do you guys think..
For BB10 to be made open source all the key security modules would have to be removed. Not a chance!
I had the same idea, but thinking about the security of the platform I understand that's most probably impossible! Unfortunately!

Blackberry won't do anything that doesn't make them money. I don't think open sourcing BB10 is going to bring them any sort of revenue.

A mobile OS has tons of components such as drivers that are not owned but are licensed from other companies so it can't be entirely open sourced. HP tried to open source webOS but had to strip out lots of stuff so you don't see it on mobile phones anymore but it is used for refrigerators and TVs.
Yeah, but they confirming it's dead still doesn't fetch them any revenue. They are just being very difficult. They should just throw in a very last system update or update the Android runtime. That will help.
Android runtime will never be updated. This is part of the contract for them to sell official android software.
They aren't going to confirm it's death. There's probably a bit of stock out there to move and I'm sure they still bring in revenue from companies on BB10 using BES.
