So I'm trying to buy a new in-dash receiver for my car, but I'm running into a pretty major problem. Being the third wheel in the mobile industry is causing me to have to skip over tons of units I'm interested in buying. I'm not going to buy one of the independent GPS receivers, I just want one I can pair my phone up to, and have it display on the receiver screen. They all say they're compatible with iOS and Android devices though.

Would pairing a Z10 up to one of them actually work? I'm having a hard time figuring out if they're just using that terminology, or if they actually need to be specific types of phones.

These are the types of receivers I'm looking at.

I've paired my Z10 with 3 different cars on Bluetooth without any problems at all.. The contacts sync up well and I'm able to make/ receive calls and am able to stream music as well. My car has a blaupunkt New York 800 and I've tried with 2 others..

Btw New York 800 does not support streaming audio, but this has worked in others that support.

I've not been able to get the navigation voice to work over my Alpine deck.

Navigation voice normally needs streaming capable deck, are you able to stream songs otherwise?

Unsure, I will try. I know it did with my old phone.

It streams very nicely on my Alpine, but, unless I'm streaming I still haven't figured out how to get the voice.

So are you guys talking about streaming music? Or are you referring to getting map/GPS applications to work with the Z10?

Both... I've discovered if I use blue tooth streaming I get the navigation voice from the phone. Streaming is very good and Alpine interface is really nice and easy to use. Sound quality is unmatched in my opinion. I have a dock that I put my phone in so I can see the gps display off the phone.
