I trying to figure out why can't/wont set up OS updates the way Apple does through their own servers rather than being forced to do it through each individual carrier.
It always seem in the U.S. that Verizon is lags behind the times as its corporate strategy prioritizes the Andriod hardware platform.
Any info on this?

They ARE coming from BlackBerry's servers. BlackBerry, however, is allowing the carriers to control which firmware version is offered.

IMHO this is nuts and were I them I'd give the carriers the finger in this regard.

I agree tickerguy. It's unfortunate that BB doesn't carry the same "clout" it once did with the US carriers and that the carriers can contribute the success or failure of particular handsets. Guess i will have to install a "leak". I'm not looking forward to waiting until "winter" for this update.

All carriers do is put their "stamp" of approval.. IE bloatware apps. Nothing worth while. And if you do the leaked route you need not worry unless it is the same as your carrier release

Well since the carriers have given the middle finger to BlackBerry, I see no reason for them not to return the favor.

So when the time ever comes that I wish to "hit" the official update, I should revert back to the earlier "official" 10.1?
