    Hello,

I have reached my 16 gb allowance on my phone.

The thing is I have almost no media on my phone, no music, no videos, no large apps, i have deleted them all.

What else could be taking up all of this space.

I do have about 20 email accounts on the phone. A couple of them are very active, whilst the others are not so active.

Emails shouldnt take up a lot of space anyway, as the attachments are not downloaded.

Does anyone have a solution? I have tried a number of different things.

i cant there is not enough memory on the phone to open the resource monitor.

I literally cannot do anything. Most apps close down.

I think the issue may be that there are a load of emails saved on the memory, but how do I find these and delete them?

Shouldnt it delete these after 30 days anyway?

    Regards

    Ivan

Emails will only delete after 30 days if you have that set in the options. That being said, if you take screenshots of your phone those are on your device in the camera by default until you either delete them or move them. Have you installed any android apps? Those will download to your device too in the android download folder. Delete them and then open up snap and tell it to delete once you have the app installed.

What else you got going on on the phone?

Which OS are you on? There was an issue for awhile where android stuff was stuck no matter what. The only fix if I remember was to wipe the phone.

OK, got it! That is what it looks like.

Interestingly my z10 is running 10.3 leak and when I go to the accounts I can set the sync time.

On my z30 when I go to the accounts I don't have that option.

    Where is that in 10.2.1?

No option to change sync time, just checkwed.

What I was hoping to do was to install the new OS as this would most likely resolve any issue. But I can't because there is not enough memory to do it!

I don't want to wipe my phone.

How will I save my contacts, is there an app for that?

Waiting for the resource monitor to load.can take ages, over 30 minutes.

Clear your browser history and cookies and delete cb10/clear cb10cache within cb10 settings.. should give you enough memory to use the phone to troubleshoot

Clearing browser "cookies and other data " recovers a couple gb's for me. Cb cache was up near 700mb

also, do you use box, dropbox, onedrive apps etc? Read deleting + reboot can recover gb's, (you can reinstall them afterwards)

The best way to backup ONLY contacts, is contacts imex. Free, ad free, local (doesnt upload your contacts anywhere). To use, Export all contacts to vcf and either save the vfc to SDcard or email the vcf file to yourself. After you wipe, you can use the same app to import the contacts.

If you use password keeper, you can backup your passwords from within the app.

Can you delete anything by plugging it into a computer as a USB drive to make some space?

Delete some of your apps to get you some space at least for now so you can fully see what's holding all your memory.

Definitely delete some unused apps to see what's going on. Or delete one very large one. Some of the car racing apps are 1GB or larger. Six of them would fill your phone up quickly...

If you can, do a backup using Link.. factory reset the phone, load updated OS and either install fresh apps from BlackBerry World + snap etc or restore apps from backup.

My issue is i havent been able to do a backup, it gets to 100% and then never finishes so the backup file is never created. I have deleted ALL apps from the phone. I will try and do a backup now, as i dont have snap anymore.

If i can backup, i can do a factory reset and upload the new OS.

Even with all apps deleted there is still 12 gigs or so being used by the system. Seems odd that it would be so high.

Can you remove some email accounts. Not as if they cant be re added. Might save you the wipe process.

if you have 12 gigs you should be able to get a proper data usage picture. can you do that again but wait until it actually distributes it completely because the shot you got in this thread was only the initial one.

    Update:

I figured it would take me longer to work out what was wrong, so I backed up my contacts and wiped the phone.

All done. Strange, I think something was preventing some data from being deleted.

    Regards
