Technically, the OHA does not allow a company that sells a pure Android device that is certified for Google Play Services (the Priv), to sell another product with a forked version of Android (BB10).

The OHA would probably look the other way with the existing Runtime, but would not be too happy with any further development.

How is Samsung doing it then? They have windows as well as tizen... ?

Well that a good list, but you are missing one of the most waited feature since OS 10.0...

That will make the gesture base operation a lot more consistent.
For square screen devices like the Classic or the Passport I really don't see it as a big challenge.

    Also my wish list
1- Printing from anywhere in the OS (Hub, browser..)

2- Possibility that keep Offline maps. And/or maintain the calculated route while no data connection available.
Today Maps keep tracking it's route over a precalculated route... but systematically want to recalculate route the moment we take an other route.... Then we are simply loosing all GPS tracking on the maps

3- Allow us to used the converted value back and forth from/to the calculator (from/to any of the converter, tips, calculator)

4- Support category field. (Outlook categorie)

    BlackBerry Assistant
5- Be able to quickly and easily switch speech recognition language from pre-selected supported language (eg English -> French, ...)

    Thanks for setting me straight.
I went and did a bit more research and I think Samsung gets away with the "android compatibility layer" because its an app in the app-store as opposed to an integral piece of the operating system.

If Samsung can do this maybe BlackBerry can do something similar too.
Imagine 10.3.3 removes the android runtime but instead you get the "android runtime app" from BBW.
Also its possible that since Google/Alphabet are under antitrust scrutiny that they may be a bit more benevolent for a while.

This changes my view of BB10's situation more than a little.

About number 3, if you slide to the right on the bottom bar with the back button it takes you right to the first screen.

While I am more than happy with my "pre Blue Dot" version of BB10, I simply wish for 10.4 . . . Because if there is a 10.4, and we all know about the reality of THAT and unicorns prancing in fields of jelly babies, it would mean both the OS and the hardware is ALIVE. And alive is a good thing. A very good thing.

I wish BB when Chen came on board had adopted a more of a "I'm here to chew bubble gum and kick ***. And I am all out of gum...." mentality. Apologies to Mr. Carpenter.
