What makes you think you'll brick it? And bricking is easily fixed. Almost impossible to brick a blackberry and if it did happen it would be soft bricked and fixable with a correct reload of the OS.

    Hehe cute!!!!

Updating to 10.3.1 bricked my phone. After one week of use it went into a not ending start up loop and didn't start up completely when not plugged into the charger. Have a replacement device now versus it couldn't get fixed.
And I'm not the only bricked device after updating to 10.3.1.
Please don't be so naive, a BlackBerry is easily bricked, too.

There was a lot of problems there, but normally there is never a problem, I have loaded every single leak and nothing yet of major problems, your phone might have just been defective it can happen.

Um the update process did not "brick" your device

Now, assuming they are limiting the performance to two cores, my best guess would be to improve the productivity of the phone.

The way BlackBerry10 works, we get proper, true native multitasking that is reliable. The QNX side of the phone rarely crashes (I've yet to ever see it happen), and because of the way it's made to run, only the app will crash and then restart if it's a part of the phone, or you have the dead active frame (greyed out like when you reboot with apps open) if it's just an ordinary app.

The Android runtime also runs inside a virtual box so to speak, similar to a very well integrated VM (like XP Mode on Win7) if I'm not mistaken (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but that's how it's seemed ever since PBOS), and that would mean it could never have the maximum resources that the OS contains due to the other OS running on top of it.

Again, all speculation, we don't really know the internal software for this OS.

Praise be unto our Lord, Squircle | Passport SQW100-1/10.3.2.680
As I've already discussed, however, you wouldn't be improving performance by containing some apps to two cores while giving others access to all four - or even just the other two. There will always be times where the native apps will need more power than the Android apps, and vice versa - everything should have access to all four cores so that the OS can sort out the best way to distribute tasks between cores.

Even in terms of battery life, forcing two cores to work harder vs. distributing a workload across four cores should, in theory, be less efficient.

The runtime is indeed VM-like (though calling it a VM wouldn't be entirely accurate), but that doesn't seem to stop it from fully-utilizing resources on other BB10 devices - Android runtime benchmark scores are very similar to native scores for the Z30, for instance, and both CPU cores are reported.

If this is indeed on purpose, rather than an oversight, I have no clue why it might be the case.

Love this update - my two findings so far:

-Unable to mark Facebook messages "unread" from within the hub. Other messages (sms/email) work.

    HELP Please!!!
I'm trying to update my Z10 (STL100-3) from 10.3.1.2726 to 10.3.2.798 via Sachesi and it stops and gives me this error:

    "While sending: bbm-10.8.6.15-nto+armle-v7+signed.bar
    Error: failure 533 Application-Requires-System: version forbidden, want (10, 3, 2, 0) have (10, 3, 1, 2726)"

    What am I doing wrong??
I downloaded the right files, extracted the Debrick and placed all its apps (242 of them) in a folder with the Core and Radio.
    HELP!!!
    Thanks in advance

I don't find any difference in the BT connectivity issue at all from 680. I did an autoload of 680 last night after a complete wipe (yes, I know, wipes don't help), and thought the BT connectivity with Pebble was a little better, but just a little. Probably my imagination. No improvement in Plantronics connectivity at all. This afternoon I did a Blitz load of 798 via Sachesi, and cannot detect any improvement in the BT connectivity, even after deleting devices, re-installing them, etc. I also have had a "QNX" error in booting a couple of Android apps, but after a hard reboot that seems to be solved.

If you've been following my posts on BT you know that I submitted logs to BB directly when I was on 680, and the response from their "engineers" was that I was on a beta release, the the BT issues were OS related, and in short, nothing they could or would do. Now that 798 is being pushed OTA they can hardly call it a beta release or leak. I may contact BB again and resubmit logs, if they'll start another ticket.

This is all sort of ridiculous, of course. BlackBerry is failing its customer base in not fixing as basic an issue as BT connectivity, and fixing it fast. It's hard to believe they can't find the problem(s), whether with the Passport hardware or the OS or the compatibility between the OS and the hardware.

If I were a new BlackBerry end user and had just bought a Passport through AT&T, I would be returning it because of the flicker and also the BT problems. What would I know about upgrading to a late 10.3.1 OS to get rid of the flicker and then still have the BT problem, albeit not as bad. Then, when I got an OTA 10.3.2 update, the BT problem would be even worse.
You forget that only a minority of users have these issues. My bluetooth connections to my plantronics voyager works fine, to my Touareg fine, to my Fenix fine. So nothing to complain about.

I have tried to reproduce your issues to submit them to BlackBerry via BETA program, but whatever I tried to connect to, everything worked fine.
