Ordeal with the official 10.3.1 update...
Just wanted to share my experience.. I'm from the Philippines and I successfully updated my Passport to 10.3.1.1565 the night of Feb. 19. Naturally, I was excited to do the same with my girlfriend's Z10 STL 100-1. She's not the type of person who gets into these things, hence, she remained on 10.2.1 ever since she got her phone.
Early morning of Feb. 21, I downloaded the 1 gb update (also 10.3.1.1565) on her device and started the reboot/installation around 8am. It reached 90% after 4 hrs. We unplugged the device then thinking it wouldn't be long before it's done. Then at 2:30pm while on the road, we saw it was still at 96% and after a short while, the phone died. As soon as I reached home (4pm), I plugged the phone via wall charger and it automatically started the installation again. I left it there til 7am this morning, Feb. 22 (total of 15 hrs), and it showed 93%. So I started to read about the issue here on the forums and consult with some friends (btw, her phone wasn't short on internal storage). At that point, I figured that waiting for it wouldn't do anything, so I started with the battery pulls and reboots.
Finally tonight it went dead albeit the red LED light blinked in a certain pattern. The phone didn't start up even after an hour of being plugged in a wall charger or a laptop. Of course, now my girlfriend is trying to suppress her being utterly upset and disappointed, especially since her work contacts and other info are stored in her device. Now it's in the process of an OS reload via Link, currently downloading the software update. In fact, I don't even know exactly what version it's gonna install and if it's gonna make the phone all right again.
Anyway, my point is that I'm kind of in the middle here. On one hand, I know that I should've backed up her device first before doing the update resulting in a not-so-upset girlfriend. On the other hand, it's just a really sad (not to mention tiring) experience...
