And BB10 sims won't work in legacy devices...
They do, I have an adapter.

Not according to BlackBerry's own knowledge base documentation about it.

But, I'm not able to check simple IMAP on BIS now.

If I was brave, I guess I could try to position my micro SIM into the standard SIM slot in my 9800 and fire it up, re-setup my BIS account, and check... but, I suppose I'm not that brave - or that curious, really.

I wouldn't advise it without a proper adapter.

Trying it without one would be the brave part

I don't get it. You got something added for free that you can't use?
BIS can basically run on top of any data plan, I even managed to get my carrier to add it at no extra cost to my 4G data plan. Must've found a nice CS guy.

Most BlackBerry users around the world are BBOS users, who I'm sure know what BIS is because unlike the US, most worldwide carriers charged extra for BIS.
They probably think of it as a "BlackBerry plan" and I bet if you asked most of them, "what benefits does it give you?", they'd probably say "BBM". :-)

Could be wrong, but I'm doubtful most people know or care about the advantages of things like "push email" or "security" or "data compression".

That's because for some, they still get instant email and much faster data speeds...so there is no need for BIS for them.

I would like to have BIS as an option as it provides much cheaper flat rate data roaming with some operators in EU. Thats the main reason I'm still on BBOS, but would really like to upgrade from 9900 to Q10 !
