Yes, I know that BB10 doesn't currently support most VPN protocols out there.

Unfortunately, most VPN providers don't support the protocol that BB10 does support.

Those that do (PureVPN and VPN Reactor) have a privacy policy that basically states they will turn over your information if asked.

The good VPN services that actually protect you as you surf almost universally use Open VPN.

So are there any plans for Blackberry to incorporate Open VPN support into BB10? This is one of the most glaringly obvious holes in the OS, as every other desktop and mobile OS (Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, Windows Phone) all offer Open VPN support...

...and BES isn't the answer for the individual non corporate user.

Check VPNMe in BlackBerry World. Functional. Keeps no logs so nothing to turn over. Inexpensive and can be paid through the app so no credit card information kept. Looks like the best solution I have been able to find so far.

Apparently the hooks for Open VPN exist in BB10. I do not understand why it isn't enabled. How hard can it be?

Follow the instructions closely. The guide is in the app and is very accurate. If needing help support is wonderful. Good luck.

I did follow the instructions and it works well. I can see how you have to be careful typing in all that information into the various fields. Actually I disconnected from the VPN server on my Z10 and entered the same information into a VPN profile on.my playbook and it works fine on the playbook as well.

The only thing I hate about blackberry.
And when I asked clewley about it back when crackberry made a list for the most wanted features and he replied "It was mentioned in the crackberry's most wanted features list, who knows you might get it someday"

Thanks for the tip. Have it working on the Q10 and the PlayBook.

Actually, if they could release the app into the Blackberry World for PlayBook environment you could download and purchase service on a PlayBook instead of having to sign up on a BB10 device...
