You should be able to press on the link in the email and the browser will open. I don't have the issue you are describing, if I understand you right.
When I click on a link it gives me that cursor movement thingy, and when I long hold it gives me the copy/paste menu... I have a Q10, you?

What OS do you have installed?
I have a Q10 and tapping on a link in an email, opens up the browser to the link.
No need to "re-find" since the hub is right back where left off on the reply.

But when you try to reply to the email, while you are editing the reply before you send the email is it a hyperlink that opens automatically in the browser?
Here's what OP is talking about:
1) Compose an email addressed to yourself and type out "www.youtube.com" in the body. There is no hyperlink that will open in the browser.
2) Send to yourself. If you open the sent email in the Hub you will see a hyperlink that will open in browser.
3) The incoming email you receive also has a hyperlink that will open in browser.
4) Hit reply to the email and while editing the reply there is no longer a hyperlink that will open in browser.
Long press on the link and on the right, the "open in browser" option will show up
It's normal that when you tap on a link when replying, it's puts the cursor cause 99% of the time, when replying to an email, normally you are not looking to open links

Tapping on a link in an email i'm READING works. I'm talking about trying to go to a URL that somebody emailed me while I'm RESPONDING to them.

Normally when i'm tapping on a link thats in the quoted text of the reply its because I want to view the URL,

Precisely, is there any way to do this?

This doesn't work while in the reply/reply all window. You only get the text editing options such as cut/copy/paste.
You're drowning in a glass of water. Double tap or long press the link, copy it, open browser and paste it.
When replying to an email, the priority is given to editing, not hyperlinking.
I do have to admit, long pressing and having the overflow menu display open with browser does seem like an oversight and it would be a welcome addition if BlackBerry ever includes it.

I just tried double tapping and long pressing and copy/pasting, and it DOES NOT copy the URL, it copies the link text instead.
Massive oversight.

The OP has made a nice discovery. This should be possible but it's not. Hopefully this will be fixed but for now, the only solution I can think of is marking the original message unread so it can be easily found and switch back to the saved draft reply..
