Thanks to the Theme Builder app, I've managed to make a comparison image between the stock app icons from BlackBerry 10.2 and 10.3+.

10.2 icons are on the left, and the new flat-icons that were introduced with the 10.3 update are to the right. Now, this isn't a strictly accurate representation due to the 10.2 icons being much larger. I disliked them being made smaller in 10.3 at first, however, I feel that they're much better being smaller.

The 3D look of the old icons is much pleasing to the eye, and gave an elegance feel to the OS IMO.

When looking at the bigger picture, it seems obvious that the change to flatter and simplified icons were BlackBerry making a small step to the transition of android.

I'm nostalgic towards BlackBerry 10.2, so my opinion is somewhat biased. How do you feel about the aesthetic changes BlackBerry made with their stock applications?

Prefer 10.3 icons, at least they had some sort of guidelines instead of a random mess

They've grown on me.. when I first updated I hated them, but looking now, they are more aesthetically pleasing.

The 10.3 icon I still don't like is the picture icon. Then again don't remember what the 10.2 one looked like either.

Not to sure about the 'nostalgia' of the 10.2 icons you refer to seeing as it was only within the last year or so, or the elegance of them being somewhat 3D. They're icons at the end of the day. They do what they need to do.

I don't think that the change in their appearance is anything to do with a small step towards Android. It probably has more to do with small tweaks to performance and also aesthetics than anything else.

But anyway, I think the .3 icons looks much better than the .2 icons. Much less cluncky.

I was looking forward to those icons before, now I would sort of like to switch back. I liked the big icons, but I didn't like the gray box behind them.

I agree, there weren't any need for those grey boxes. Bigger icons wouldn't have done the Passport any good, however, as it would've wasted much of its screen real-estate.

That's it, you forget after a while. If you were to go back to 2.1 you'd realize how much it all has changed. Some better, some worse
