    Don't many of the apps require Google Play Services? None of the apps should on the Amazon Appstore.

    I think you can over exaggerate just a little bit more to really make your point. I've never cared for rapid update cycles myself but that's a different topic, it's quite nice when a company releases a pruned version for the Amazon Appstore (Fitbit is the most recent of my apps that received an update after the Android version started making use of google services, released Apr 2017).

    Sure, but most developers simply abandon their app on Amazon after they start using Google Play Services.
