I have had other phones and Blackberry is by far the worst update experience I've encountered so far. With many other devices I could always blame the carriers for getting in the way of getting updates, but Blackberry devices not tied to any carrier aren't receiving the update! Is Blackberry using a dial-up connection to push out the update? Are their update servers a pair of Pentium class desktop machines?

I wish Telus would let us know when they're releasing it for devices other than Z10 and Q10. At least Rogers gave an answer of "next week" and not uselessness like "soon" and "we'll let you know when it arrives"

Yes that's absolutely what was wrong. Make sure Link is shut down (even close background BlackBerry stuff in task manager if you need to). Sachesi needs full access to your phone.

This is what has worked for me to get updates:
1) Find a carrier who has released your particular phone model (the value of x in STL100-x matters) and the update in question
2) Pop in a SIM card from that carrier. Doesn't have to be an active SIM card
3) Power up device, you should see the carrier branding (and see carrier name in About -> SIM screen, etc.)
4) Check for software updates

Worked for a factory unlocked Z10 on T-Mobile; had to pop in a Rogers SIM to get 10.3.1. Also used this trick previously to get my Q10 updated to 10.2.1.

Note that this is my experience with unlocked phones using stock updates... don't know if this applies to locked phones or ones loaded with leaked builds.

Did not work for me. Factory unlocked Z30 (NB: am running the 1949 leak)

You said elsewhere that having the SIM inserted is *relevant* for getting the update for shopblackberry devices. Is that true and accurate info?

I want to put my Z30 back on Wi-Fi only and place its SIM in my Android. I'm done waiting anxiously for this update - especially what with the bug reports. Sounds very much like a classic Apple update! (I'm happy with my new Z30 and its 10.2... ...for now.)

Finally got the update this morning. Unlocked Passport from ShopBB on Bell in Toronto! Hit that button!

Same with a ShopBB Passport on AT@T.

It seems the update is being held back for the Z30 and Passport in general. Though some Z30 and Passport folks have received theirs. I wonder if this is part of a controlled rollout, or if there are known issues with the update on the Z30 and Passport that they are trying to work through?
