ShopBlackBerry Z30, so factory unlocked. Software Release 10.3.1.1581, OS Version 10.3.1.2267, Radio Version 10.3.1.2268.
Thank you very much, this is great.
Which carrier are you using? Also, are you facing any problems/issues that people mentioned in other threads? If you feel like PM'ing, please do. Thanks again.

T-Mobile USA, region San Francisco Bay Area, California.

I haven't had any issues at all.

I did the Link update, which took 2.5 hours to complete, which is the only downside I experienced. (I had to make sure the laptop didn't go to sleep and suspend the process!) Install break down was probably 0.5 hours to download the 1 GB file over wi-fi to a MacBook Air, then 1.5 hours to download/install the update to the Z30 via USB 2.0, and finally 0.5 hours on the first boot. After that, subsequent boots have been under one minute.

I just read about Z30 dying after it discharges the battery. Just to be on the safe side, do not let your Z30 run out of battery.
I think Link update is safer than OTA. Is your Z30 STA 100-5?

I usually charge the Z30 every two days and it's about 15% by the time that happens. I haven't let it completely discharge yet, under 10.2.1.x or 10.3.1.x.

I read the BlackBerry notice in the thread you linked. It says the screen issue is under investigation, but that doesn't actually mean it's a 10.3.1.x issue. It could still be that user's screen dying, as there have been reports of faulty Z30 screens prior to 10.3.1.x.

OTA needs 2.5X the size of the update to install and I didn't feel like cleaning up stuff before installing; that's why I went with Link. Also, OTA Software Update was giving me a long spinning waiting, whereas Link showed the update immediately. So yes, it seems safer with Link, though the downside is the download/install time is way longer, especially with using USB 2.0 for a 1 GB file.

I don't know why it's not possible to get that release via sachesi. It disappeared yesterday.

Hah, thanks! I'm glad the update went well for me.

You'll probably get a more bug free version to install, so there's that as a benefit for waiting.

    Following up on this:

    http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...pdate-1002602/

The person who is posting everywhere about the screen problem, if I'm understanding correctly in the thread above, has said that if his Z30 is plugged in, the screen will work, but unplugged, it doesn't...

"Mine won't unless plugged in. when unplugged I can't wake screen up. Phone is working but screen stays black."

    then later...

"I've got mine to the point where it will wake up a few times after unplugging but then it stays black again. Li get it is plugged in, lo get it will work properly"

Further, he said he reverted to 10.2.1.x and there's still the same issue.

"I have forced restart, downgraded to 10.2 but nothing works."

It seems weird that the same problem is under 10.2.1.x. The only way 10.3.1.x could have affected 10.2.1.x is if 10.3.1.x somehow fried some hardware; otherwise, it seems pretty unlikely that the problem would persist.

As for the BlackBerry acknowledgement of the bug, who reported it? Was it this user and it's become a circular re-enforcement of the bug? Or was the bug report generated by a lot of users?

EDIT: There's definitely an issue with Z30's with drained batteries. There's a whole thread on BlackBerry Support. Lots of people reported the problem, starting around page 10. By page 26...

    https://supportforums.blackberry.com...626279/page/26

"My cousin overseas whom I gifted her a brand new white Z30 from Canada is having the same issue. He Battery drained. After charging it the screen is not lighting up. The only difference is that she is still running 10.2.1.

I am starting to think there is something else happening, not OS upgrade related."

Were you on a different SIM while overseas? Maybe the other carrier already released the update but not your local carrier. (There's a trick where you can insert another carrier's SIM and get OTA update from them, even though you're not subscribed to them.) You can always try removing the SIM /and/ checking over wi-fi or Link.
Nope, was on the same sim overseas as now.
Tried everything I have found here at CB:
    - removing sim , checking for updates via wifi
    - reset and restored phone
    - checked for updates on device and through Link
    - loaded sachesi and looked for 10.3.1
Its almost like Rogers pulled back the update for 10.3.1 for the Z10 STL 100-3
Are people still seeing this update on their phones and the updates on Sachesi ?

z30 10.3.1 update is now pulled by carriers and BlackBerry. If you have updated a z30 to 10.3.1 do not let your battery die. Just don't.

I find this "update" so bad I'm considering switching devices. I get between 5-15 network disabled notifications each day. Having one little spot that I can activate the camera is a huge pet-peev. It seems like this update has brought the phone closer to an iPhone, not what I like at all. Am I alone in this rant

That's not the reason. BlackBerry removed Flash from 10.3.1.x because Adobe no longer supports mobile Flash. Read CrackBerry for the work-arounds.
