The "other data" issue should be addressed and fixed ASAP. On later OS, there is no "other data" but the problem still exist (check from device manager, storage, every apps have "installed" and "data", and the "data" usage keeps building up with use, eg. my CB app "data" use 200 MB of storage). The only way to reverse it is by uninstalling and reinstalling the app. For us who is gradually loading leaks, and most of us who starts fresh, the problem is non-existent. But for those who don't, the data keeps building up. It's also no problem for me, who uses the Z10 with 16GB of storage and installed few apps. But for those using the Z3 or for those who wants to install some games, it would be troublesome. I know that the problem can be solved by reinstalling the app, but still, it is annoying.

I don't know why BlackBerry hasn't addressed this issue. It is a well known issue since the first OS version.

This is a issue with the crackberry app... not OS related at all.

Correct. This is not an issue that can be resolved by BlackBerry. This issue must be resolved by the app developer of apps where you are seeing this. If you have specific apps in mind already I'd highly suggest you contact the developer.

The BB10 OS has no idea what data in the apps sandbox might be critical, and what might just be cached data. Only the application will understand that.

Actually no. You can check it. It happens too to the other apps. Eg. Browser, 9Gag, etc. I have tried to clear the cache. The storage usage become lower but not much. You can try it. Check the device monitor now. And some apps would use unbelievably high storage.

    See below what I meant.

This resolves when you uninstall the apps.

Applications download data after you install them, for example photo editor apps, applications such as rss readers, Facebook Twitter and the likes store large amount of data as cache and cookies ( any apps that signs you in to any service does that) and images, therefore their storage data will increase the more you use them, some of them will clear caches periodically or manually if the developer of said app implemented said function.

Other Data refer to any data stored on the device (if checking device storage) or media card that is not being indexed by the OS or not accessible to the user, for example Android app data or any files you set as hidden. If for example you have a folder, with let's say 1GB of video files, and is hidden ( a .nomedia file added to this folder) this will be a part of the "Other Data" Space.

In this image that 1.3GB other data you see there includes my ring tones folders, wallpapers and some other files that I don't want to show in the pictures, music or video apps, there fore those are hidden files

I had a windows phone for a while and it most definitely has the other data issue. It was very bad in wp7 while they seemingly fixed it in gdr3 of wp8 the clear other data button never actually did anything pressed it and it greyed out for a bit and came back and didn't do anything

Actually it is a OS problem too. OS should be able to recognize when should a cache be cleared.

So? BlackBerry shouldn't do it either?

But at least android have apps that can clean cache. They have apps like that because the OS can recognize if the data can be cleared or not.

Have you seen an app like that on BlackBerry World? Of course not counting the android port apps.

Just delete your cache on a per app basis it's what I do and I saved a lot of money on my car insurance.

But seriously if you cannot find a clear cache button just delete and re install the app and guess what you just reset your cache.

It's also been rumoured that in 10.3 or 10.3.1 there will be the legacy feature to store app data and cache on your sd card

Yea I know it can get a little annoying but CB10 doesn't accumulate cashed data too quickly I reinstall maybe once a month and all my other apps have clear cache buttons.

It's a Damn shame the CB10 app has gone open source.....pretty much a fancy way of saying crackberry.com can't be bothered to give blackberry users the best experience. the crackberry app for android is world's better
