I'm currently using 9700, never touched a Storm or Torch 9850. I've ever dealt with Torch 9810 but it has trackpad, and when I tried to select the text with touchscreen it's a bit cumbersome.

So how's the experience on BlackBerry 10? Will I be able to transition comfortably?

I would say it was pretty bad at launch. With the latest updates both leaked and official releases it is so much better. Not gonna say it's perfect but honestly I haven't had one touch screen yet that was perfect on text selection. With the update its on par with or better than Android and iOS.

Pretty decent. When you drag one of the endpoints, it jumps down a bit with a line pointing up to the end so you can see what you're selecting. It's just that little jump that took getting used to for me.

Heh. Two opposing views in short succession. Well, I can select text just as quickly as I could on my 9790.

It takes time to adapt but with practice you figure out the nuances. The anchors should be like those on the BlackBerry PlayBook to make it easier.

Its not as good as you'd like it to be BUT it has been improved in the new update.

Alright, thanks guys. Does the text selection on BlackBerry 7 touchscreen devices look similar to ones in BlackBerry 10? Maybe I can try to practice a bit to prepare myself.

The trick is to find out what point of your finger it works best with.It does'nt work if you just tap it. For me it only seem to work when I use a certain point on my finger

I'm struggling with it. I prefer just swiping back and deleting words where possible.
Miss the trackpad most from legacy.

To select text, use two fingers. Aim the first finger that the start of the text you want and the second finger at the end of the text that you want to select. Then tap at the same time. The section will be highlighted and if you missed the mark then you drag the little blue icon slightly to wherever you want.

I find that it works quite well.

But touch will never beat a trackpad. You get used to it.

I had a 9860 and still have a playbook and I find using the touch screen to select your location for correcting text is an excercise in frustration. I much prefer the trackpad on the torch and now on the bold 9900. An iOS device at least brings up the magnifying glass when you hold your finger on the screen which I actually find much more useful. It would be great to see BBRY take a similar approach for text selection with BB10.

After two years with the torch, I am really enjoying the experience with the bold and am now really confused on which phone to switch to...the z10 or q10 when available. I really like going back to the full keyboard on the bold but am concerned about not having the trackpad on the smaller screen on the q10 (as compared to the z10). Any further thoughts on this?

I'm struggling as well. I find I'll sometimes discard an entire message and start from scratch because I can't manage to get the bubble to show up or on the correct word. I don't really have any problems on the PlayBook though :/

How do you swipe back to delete words? I was able to get it to delete the very last word typed, but I couldn't get it to swipe/delete any words or text further back.

The PlayBook is terrible for text selection. Sometimes I get the copy/paste menu popping up and sometimes I get the handles that are impossible to place accurately.

Nothing beats holding "shift" and swiping at the trackpad to highlight text or batch select a list of emails.
