Is there anyone from Hong Kong receiving 10.1 update? I'm using CSL 1010, wondering when will I receive it.

Tried update via BlackBerry Link and Web browser from IE. No luck for the official OS 10.1 update yet. Model STL 100-2 socks at 10.0.10.85 CSL Hong Kong. Any help? Thanks in advance!

I just went to HK for trip, and I use china mobile HK, and I can confirm there is no update for 10.1. I am using Leak OS for almost a month with 1627. No complaint. Just use BB link to backup phone and run the leak, and restore. If you are sick of waiting from carriers.

According to the BlackBerry Live, we should all receive the update by the end of the month for the latest. Not sure if it is true.

Whilst we are at that, I can't help feeling the battery life leaves much to be desired. What's your experience?

Mine does not. Half day at best. Partially due to 4G perhaps.

I believe BlackBerry has released 10.1 to all countries one by one starting from May 14. I got the update on that day in Canada. Most Asian countries got their update a week after. So I think HK carriers delay the release for some reasons. A friend of mine with Smartone has not got the update as of today. I don't know why. I feel you guys pain by the time you get 10.1, 10.2 is coming...10.1 is great, not only extending battery life but also coming with more awesome features.

It's being delayed by the carrier, a way around these delays would be to get the update through a leak. Which Crackberry posts regularly. But always backup before doing so in case something goes wrong.

Sorry to digress. It is rather difficult to buy BB10 accessories in HK. Apart from shopping at Crackberry which I did but only when ordering many items in one go due to shipping costs, the other option is Expansys' HK website. Free shipping when under certain weight. Got my leather holster and transformer case there.

Brigtstar's centre (official distributor) in Mongkok got poor collection of accessories and not cheap.

On SmarTone too, and still on 10.0... Looking forward to extending my Z10's battery life with 10.1 :-)

As a side note, I blame HK's 4G networks for sucking so much juice out of the battery. Whenever I travel overseas in Asia, Europe or the US, my Z10 actually has no issues surviving a whole day (or more) on one charge - with usage pattern not dissimilar from when I am at home in HK.

Once HK has developed LTE from 4G like Canada here, the battery life is getting longer. OS 10.1 makes difference too.

Now that I tried, switching to 3G does not really make much difference to battery life in my case.

I heard from this forum that some guys suggest us to limit the network mode to 4G rather than both LTE and 4G in order to avoid draining battery. However, from my experience, I don't see LTE draining more battery juice than 4G. I always turn on LTE, so let the phone find where LTE is available and if not it automatically downgrades to 4G.

I know HK doesn't have LTE yet, still 4G/3G. So likewise, switching to just 3G from both 3G/4G seems to be no difference in battery life. Nevertheless, the situation in HK is a big difference than in Canada, simply because too many high rise buildings in HK have higher interference from one tower to other. So the signal searching becomes complicated. That could be a reason for quick battery drainage.

To make battery last longer, I find it always works that if you manually lock your phone by pushing the on/off button right after you use the phone. Hope this helps!

Should you decide to accept it ;-), I'd be very interested in your experience with 10.1.0.273 upgrade. Got the same notification (finally!), but am hesitating...

It takes about 2 hrs to run through all the process, four steps in total. Each step has 1k MB. So you'd better do it via wifi.

Did it. So far so good. The interface is more responsive in general but that could be just necessary result of a ROM reflash. The phone app was sluggish in the past but now snappy. 1+. The editing circle works better. 2+.

    Will report more.

No, LTE is 3 times faster than 4G, 10 times faster than 3G . The 4G advertised actually is 3.5G, pretty much the same speed as wifi. LTE, in the long run, can reach 100 Mbps (download speed). Unfortunately, CB10 doesn't allow me to attach a picture. Otherwise, you will see the differences by doing a test thru SpeedTest.net
