I'm running BB OS 10.3.2.2836 non my Passport.

Last week I found out that BES is no longer required in order to be able to sign and encrpyt your emails through S/MIME using email certificates. Furthermore, I found a new option allowing to enable "NFC Smart Card Support". Not much is known on the internet about this new option, other than a quick mention in the changelog. The general smart card documentation states that it is possible to sign emails through a certificate stored on a smart card.

I'm trying to get my Yubikey Neo's PIV applet to sign emails using an email certificate stored on the yubikey and do this wirelessly through NFC. Does anyone have any experience with this new "NFC Smart Card Support" option and its limitations with respect to email signing?

Just export your keys from your PIV card and either email them to yourself or transfer them to your device and import them. It's much easier then worrying about smart card support, which has always been a hassle.
