It's still 4 full months at least and they keep on supporting it, where is the problem?

Basically it means that the team assigned to it will not be reassigned until January. Of course they are still doing their jobs until then.

I just checked the Beta Zone (been a Whats App Beta tester for a long time) and there is a new update in there as well - however, the notes identify it to be "matching the version number available within Blackberry World" so I expect this is the beginning of the end of the Beta. Shame.

Their announcement a few months back stated they would support it fully up until the end of the year, when it goes kaput. At least they're keeping their word.

    Doesn't really understand this question.

Anyway, the new update has nothing new visually. Probably everything under the hood.
And there's no opt out of facebook option neither. Or I didn't see it.
    Anyone?

I'm more sceptic of this update.

I call their bluff and think this update is designed to further place a time limit, or has I've recently discovered (whatsapp expired), so this "update" may just be them resetting the expiration clock!

Support it fully? Barely. There are many new updates stuff that are not implemented in the BB10 - but yeah I don't blame them.

Yes, that was actually the primary motivation for this (2.16.66) update. The previous release (2.16.58) was due to expire in October, and I'm pretty sure users want to be able to continue using the app until the end of the calendar year.

    Yes they do!

I'd happily pay a small subscription to keep WhatsApp on my Passport.

None of my business messaging is via WhatsApp (I actually have clients who are still wedded to BBM), but WhatsApp is the default messaging app for friends and family, and I have no wish to go back to carrying 2 smartphones, nor do I want to ditch my Passport (best mobile device I have ever owned).

They are updating their program for the Android and iOS devices. BlackBerry 10 devices are receiving the updates because the developers of Whatsapp stated that the latter devices would be able to access the app until the end of this year. It isn't rocket science, in fact it isn't even as important as a good night's rest.
