Got this message in the Android app this morning asking if I want to install it now.

I'm ignoring it yet still have an ominous feeling that it won't be working much longer on BB10.

All WhatsApp builds expire a few months after release so you'll have to upgrade eventually to keep using it, even if that update isn't BB10 runtime compatible.

If that's an issue it might be time to migrate to a supported WhatsApp platform.

So you don't really need WhatsApp once the Android version eventually breaks according to WhatsApp developer statement?

I need Whatsapp, but I do not like to be relegated to Android OS.

Well, per WhatsApp, you'll have to use the Android version now on BB10 devices and their BB10 developer on CB stated that solution will only be temporary since it's an unsupported solution.

Better start looking for a WhatsApp alternative or decide between Android or IOS.

Do I understand that I can use Whatsapp Android version on a BB OS (BB Q10 or Z10)? How do I do that?
If you have a good Mercedes car but it does not have an A/C system then do you drive the car or try to mount an A/C system?

    Try the apk itself.

I've copied this from another member post. Search the various threads on here, if you have other questions. I use BBAndroid devices now so I've never had to do this. Good luck.

If WhatsApp is important your best longterm option will be to move to iOS or Android.

Yes, it works on Q10, but it's moving slowly. Thank you! I've tried this before, but it did not work.

It’s a shítter than this situation has arose. Among one of many of Blackberry’s mistakes was not making BBM cross platform much sooner than they did. Everyone would be using that if it worked on Android/iPhone in 2010.

They let WhatsApp waltz right in and fill the gap, so by the time BBM did go cross platform it was already obsolete and only used among BB holders as everyone else had moved to Whatapp.

You're probably running a recent version of WhatsApp, older builds expire and are no longer able to connect (similar to the native BB10 client now).

Thanks for letting me know, thought it was 2015, if it's a later one, even better, just glad it works on BB10 via APK

    Cheers
