Ok dudes, your opinions, Will BlackBerry 10 update to support this new protocol this year, or Will it be another close step to death OS?

Since RCS is just an attempt of the carriers to try to recapture revenue from over the top services I really don't care if they do or not. I use SMS rarely, don't use MMS at all and don't really want any services besides my phone line tied to my phone number.

All that it does is allow you to send a mms while talking on the phone and a few other things, but who says we can't do that already?

Yeah, joyn/RCS whatever has been supported since like 10.2.0, I think.

    Less than useless, but still.

RCS isn't new. Wiki says initial release was 2012.

OK, but how can I use it? I mean does the carrier has to 'activate' it or do I need special apps? (I already tried the android app my carrier is providing and it simply doesn't work)

Well there is your problem. The whole idea of RCS was supposed to be all these new features that didn't reuire the user to download an application. But your carrier provides an app. Doesn't look good if you ask me, but if you want to use it I suggest you talk to your carrier to find out what else is non-standard about their support of RCS.
