Just wanted to throw this out there...

Will these new branch of leaks be official releases and if so will they supersede the current OS's being released?

Im currently on the 1791 leak which im happy with but im liking the new features on the current leaks ie radio, display setting etc...

maybe someone more in the know can shed some light....thanks in advance!

I think the new branch leak (10.2.1.xxx) has different dev, so the official would be 10.2.0.xxx for now and 10.2.1.xxx status was in development.

I seem to remember someone saying that the 10.2.1 branch is the maintenance release branch for 10.2.0.

    Can anyone confirm that?

The new branch(10.2.1.xxx) was adding new features from 10.2, and 10.2 was adding new features from 10.1

I think the current leaks are still at an early stage, so they will NOT be official. Example with the watermarks...... :-)
The build 10.2.1.1xxx might have some official.

so the 10.2.1.....current os leaks won't ever be official?

Isn't it that once a branch reaches 10.X.X.1XXX the watermarks are removed and it becomes refined for release?

Thought 10.2.1 was slated for an "early" 2014 release.

If we're at 10.2.1.xxxx now why didn't they go from 10.1.0.xxxx to 10.1.1.xxxx before 10.2? There's no consistency with the way they are labeling new updates. Shouldn't there be at least a 10.2.0.9xxx before a 10.2.1.xxxx? I'm only at 10.2.0.1791.

10.2.1 will be the next branch. I believe that the last rumors pointed to December release with 10.3 slated for BlackBerry Live, but it's been a while since I've heard anything so idk if that's accurate. Until 10.2.1.1xxx it is still considered an early build and have PINs on the screen. After that it will be much more stable.

It's consistent with how software versioning works. [Major].[Minor].[Revision].[Build].

The major version (10) will remain unchanged for a while. The minor version refers to releases that bring a chunk of new features. Revisions refer to small feature changes and behind-the-scenes fixes. Build refers to how many times the entire OS is compiled for testing or release. If they don't compile 9000 times, there won't be a 10.2.0.9xxx release.

In order to get 10.2 out for the Z30 release, some features had to be put on hold. That's why a 10.2.1 revision was started. This wasn't the case with 10.1, so we never got a 10.1.1.

If you try to think of version numbers mathematically, it will never make sense.

    Version numbers go like this:

    <OS Version>.<Major Change>.<Minor Change >.<Build ID>

    OS Version is obvious.
Major And minor change are exactly that. And builds are simply day to day additions and bug fixes.

Honestly, version changes are sometimes arbitrary with regards to major vs minor, but hey, as long as we're getting our updates, I don't care what kind of version change it is.
