Slff, When you said do a "device switch" after switching batteries and charging for a bit. what can I do on link exactly because when I plug into link it doesn't recognize the device at all...

    thanks..

You have to get it back to life before you can do anything,

Leave it plugged in over night and see it that helps.

Yeah........uh I tried leaving my former Z10 plugged in using the BB out of the box wall outlet. It's been plugged in for weeks. It's completely unusable. My spare battery is fully charged and the phone won't blink.

    That's why I have to use a S4.

OP hope you have better luck than Me.

put the battery from the new one in your old phone see if it powers up, then plug into link and do a device switch,
Not even worth paying him $300 with that troubleshooting! The device normally like the old BBOS devices would power on without a battery inserted! Not always but the majority of times it would fully power on and even boot.

You can sign into your email accounts on your computer, and get some of your contacts from there.

Your phone and text contacts should be on your cell bill.

And when you update BBM on the new device, your BBM contacts migrate to the new pin.

Nothing at all? Even when it's plugged in? If the little red light never lights up, the device is dead dead dead. You should be able to do a warranty return, but I don?t hold out much hope of being able to recover the data, not without some very specialized tools.

I don't think so. You will need to add them manually to your new phone.

You will first need to find a repair shop that knows how to fix the phone. But they probably would need to order parts, not likely to have them in the store.

well I have a q10 I bought today I'm using now. they can rip it up!

Does anyone know where the chip is on the phone that actually has the "hard drive" of the phone?

would maybe a mother board swap work?

    $300? Ohhh!

Have you tried the other USB cable? Is the port where you plug your charger cable into broken?
Any data on your SD card? You might have been saving it there the full time.

Your co tracts must have gotten synced with your mail ID, just sign in to your account in the new q10 and let it sync the contacts,
    If that doesn't worj,
Insert the sim card in your new q10 and see if the contacts are restored

A bit curious.... What data are you talking about? E-mails & Texts or Documents? Documents not on SD?
My Q10 went MIA once and I left the battery out for a day, charged the battery remotely and then put it back in and the Q sprung back to life. Maybe full capacitance discharge (if possible at all) on its own reset the OS???? but not really sure why this worked, but it did.

Plug it into the power source and hold the power button for 10 seconds, see if you can force it todo a reset(wont lose documents)

My 10 cents as an engineer: if you have no guarantee to void and are willing to spend the cash, bring it to an electronics specialist/repair shop. They should easily be able to determine if only the power IC is dead, or the display assembly (seems not to be the case as PC won't recognise it). If it is not related to the power circuitry it is most likely some transistor or IC at fault in your case which is way more difficult to diagnose...
