As the title states my z10 pocket dialed 911 again. This is the third time, but it hasn't happened in quite a while.

Just wondering, has this happened to anyone else? Any idea what's causing it?

Only other thing I can mention is that it's only happened while at the gym. My gym shorts are loose fitting and made of a different materials than all my other pants.

Can't say I've had that happen, ever. Maybe your shorts have them 'air breathing' holes in them and it's touching your skin? Best I can think of.

not 911.

How does the 911 call happen??

You don't have swipe to unlock enabled, do you? I used to pocket dial all the time in my work pants because the lining was synthetic so it somehow managed to react with the screen, like a stylus, against my thigh...

The only way I stopped it was to disable swipe to unlock.

Some how the phone is walking up in your pockets and because it is locked the only thing it can do is dial 911.

This has happened with my Z30 as well. It seems to happen when I use my JUJEO Hybrid Fiber Cover with 3D Pattern, but not when I use my Saapni Premium Blackberry Z30 Holster. I don't really understand how the case could make any difference, but it does. I always have the phone front facing my leg.

Yup this does work, I had the same scenario with as the OP. The heat your body gives off apparently can activate the phone and unlock it. So i face my phone away from my skin when i put it in my pocket, so far it has worked well for me.

Yes I have swipe to wake turned off. The problem happens when the palm of my hand touches the screen if I forget to press the top button for one second.

This is the worst thing about BB10. Even worse than the contacts app if that's possible. It should be impossible to make a call by accident.

I'd pay for an app to disable the icons. Or enter a password to make a call. Who makes calls anymore? I'd take the whole damn phone off my BlackBerry if I could.

Sweat is conductive, so it's no surprise it happens at the gym.

It also gets into your phone, so it might be worth considering investing in one of those steam-proof exercise armband cases. :7

Mine has never done this and I carry it in my pocket most of the time. I have to push the top button to wake it up an then swipe up to unlock. If I know I'm going to be doing something that causes me to sweat, I put it in a snack size zip lock bag.

I've had my Z10 for the last year and a half and last weekend was the first time I pocket dialed 911. I was out hiking and had my phone in my front pocket so there was a lot of jiggling around.

But I've pocket dialed friends and family plenty of times before. Usually it's people I have on quick dial.

Just last week I pocket posted my location to Facebook while I was mowing the lawn. First it said I was at the LCBO, then it said I was in the basement, then it said I was under the bed.... my friends must think I'm strange.

This happens allot with me also, not on 911, but on emergency call, accidentally dialled a person that was set on my favorite list, opens the camera etc,actually the problem is, my phone awakens inside my pocket while walking.. and this was the reason also why I am not using picture password..

The only way I stopped it was to disable swipe to unlock.

This works for me. I've had it happen at work. Turning the phone upside down reduced the frequency but disabling swipe to unlock has eliminated the problem. I ordered a pocket pouch to make sure it doesn't happen ever again as the magnet will keep my phone asleep.

The culprit was the emergency call link from the unlock screen.

I made countless pocket dials and pictures by accident with my Z10.

Does it su.ck calling ppl and emergency by accident so easily with a phone ? Yes it does. So why they not fix OS10 is really beyond me.

I was mowing my lawn the other day. Ear protection and goggles. Of course my Z30 had just made a 911 call. Two patrol cars were parked right in front of me for a few minutes watching me. Man, I thought the worst but it was my Z30. I was charged for the call plus taxes.
