I've posted elsewhere about how in the beginning my ps3 recognized my Z10 through DLNA, but after a while it no longer played the video files that the phone took. I searched extensively and chalked it up to the ps3.

My kids just got new phones. My boy got an S4 and my daughter got a Q10:

PS3 finds S4 and plays all media including video.

PS3 finds my Z10 but only plays music and photos; videos shot with phone end up in error, videos imported (such as feature films) play fine.

PS3 finds Q10 but won't find or play any media.

    Thoughts? Solutions?

I had the z10 and couldn't get anything to work. I have an Xbox 360. I could get it to recognize the z10, but it wouldn't play. It kept saying error can't play that media file. I also have a Samsung smart tv, and once I got that hooked up via wifi (hard wired would not work), I was able to get some videos to play over the dlna connection. I still had errors with some videos though. I am thinking there are still bugs that need to be addressed with the z10.

Make sure your connections are wifi, and comparable files. But other than that, I don't really know how to fix the file either.
I now have a q10, but have bigger problems with that phone. I have not had time to try media sharing on that yet.

Oh but at least the mini hdmi output is always a guarantee to work.

    Good luck

Your girl will be going to an Ivy league, and your boy to a community college... No no I joke of course

I've had some issues with the 360 finding media on my Q10, I look again later at this, if I find anything I'll let ya know because I'm guessing there might be a BB10 issue that affects both a PS3 and 360 alike...

Maybe the format of the videos saved from the phone is not a format supported by ps3?

Well, my girl is my new favourite.

Yep, I now believe this to be a bb10 issue.

Like any other blue tooth device that may not sync right after a while, find a way to clean the blue tooth connection out of the ps3 and do it again. The s4 worked because it was a first time connection with it. Has nothing to do from one os to another so please don't lead readers to think it is a blackberry issue.

Not trying to mislead anyone. If you read my original post you'll note that my daughter's brand new Q10 did not work either whereas my son's S4 did. And I'm pretty sure DLNA is done via wifi, not blue tooth.

Videos shot on my Z10 in portrait mode did not play on my friends LG smart TV. My friend then suggested to shoot a video in landscape mode and it worked!

    PS3 reads these video files:

    mp4 - h264/aac or h264/ac3
    avi - divx/mp3, divx/ac3 or xvid/mp3

as long as it is the right container with the right video and audio codec combination, it will work.

My Samsung TV, dlna, works absolutely fine over WiFi. I have not tested all video formats or codecs - but the ones I tried (mpg4, avi and mkv) worked fine.

I've used my Z10 on both my PS3 and a friends PS3. The only issue, at all, is that the PS3 needs to be using the "right" menu to get at the appropriate media. That is: You need to be in the PS3 Pictures menu to get at the Pictures on the Z10. Same for Videos (and they need to be in a format that the PS3 supports - not WMA for example).

Finally - if you've flashed your Z10 or modified it in any way it may have "forgotten" that it is sharing media and that your PS3 is allowed to browse your phone. Check those settings to be sure.
