I am wondering if there is a way to tell if my BlackBerry Q10 is unlocked so that I can use it on another network when travelling abroad to keep the costs down?

    Thanks, Neil

Yes, go to settings > security and privacy > sim card. If you see a "unlock network" button at the bottom, then it's locked.

This is what I see in the menu, so I assume it is locked?

    Thanks, Neil

It's unlocked for the current SIM network only.

That's not how it works... It's unlocked and it's a SQN100-3 which makes me deduce that it's a Verizon Q10 which means it's unlocked for all GSM networks..

^^^^ this is an unlocked phone. If you have a button to unlock network then you are locked to your carriers network.

I honestly didn't see the unlock network button to be honest. Didn't have my glasses on.

But yea, OP, you need to get it unlocked. My phone is completely factory unlocked.
