Hi. Last night, exploring setting options just to see if 10.2 new release (10.2.1.3062), brought something new.

I found that Blackberry Protect option was OFF . I believed it was on last time I checked.

So this post is to remind you to turn it ON in case you use it.

Go and check it is on, just to make sure.

Yes except BB Protect isn't as useful as it used to be....but good advice nonetheless.

It's no where near to how useful it was. I absolutely ask this question everytime when someone brings up the Protect topic, WHY?

Can it not locate your phone when misplaced/lost anymore?
Or do you say this because they didn't bring all options that was there in BBOS platform for protect?

The phone finder etc is great, however the functions from previous BlackBerry OS have been pared down. Perhaps some day all the features will return.

Well exactly how will it help you get your phone back. I guess the wipe part is ok.

I will be happy to pay for a Blackberry Protect Pro with the ability to make backups on line, like it used to be in legacy OS. And hopefully with more features.

I left my phone in a cab not too long ago. I used protect to locate the cap on the map and then constantly spam loud noise till the driver would stop and pick up the phone - all while calling so he would be able to talk to us.

As for it not being as useful... It's as useful to me as it was on the 9780. I didn't rely on it for restoring data. That's what cloud sync services are for.

My son was in tears when he lost his Z10 while playing outdoors with his friends. He was afraid to tell me and spent awhile looking for it with his friends. When he finally told me, I showed him BlackBerry Protect, located the phone on the map, turned the Sound Command on and he found his beloved phone. Made sure my daughter has hers on too on her Z10. Love the features.
