    I turned location services off, and since then my battery life has been double what it was.

    But I just went to my task manager and noticed that it is still running in the background. Is it because it is mandatory for the OS? If so, then why can't apps use it when they start?

    I have actually left my locations services in and it hasn't affected my battery.
