Hey Guys, so I've been trying to back up my z30 for the last week and every time I try it gets stuck somewhere between 30-50% at "Blackberry runtime". I've re-installed link, tried with two different laptops and it still does the same thing.

It's really getting frustrating, and have no idea what else to try. Never had a problem backing up before. tried to search around but didn't find anything on CB.

I'm running the 10.3.0.296 hybrid on my Z30. Did this happen to anyone? have you found a fix? thanks!

As in restarts/hard reboots? Done that multiple times, still no luck

That's what I want to do, but the thing is, I want to back up to not loose everything on the phone.

Restoring runtime to a higher OS usually corrupts the runtime. So, you shouldn't even be trying to back it up in the first place.

Umm no, I've been doing this for 2 years now! I shouldn't be backing up if I wanted to downgrade, because usually a back up made from a higher version won't work on a lower OS.

But a backup from a lower OS not working on a higher OS would just be stupid.

Hey there, were you able to solve the problem ?
I am having the same exact problem. When i try to backup using Link, it freezes at 57% during the Runtime section.

It 'fixed' itself when I upgraded to another os using Sachesi.

    Hi,

This happened to me a couple of days ago with my Passport on 10.3.3.2137.

First, backup on Link would stall at 3% on Backing Up EasyJet Data.

I then deleted the EasyJet app (not of much use anyway).

After that, it would stall at 6% on Backing Up BB Runtime.

I then rebooted both phone and PC and backup process completed with no issues.

    Hope this helps.

You need to update. I have mine working but I started with a fresh installation of my laptops OS, BB10's OS and Link which first I copied from the device when plugged in.

Just install the drivers, then get the updated desktop software from the vendor online. I downloaded the Native apps I know I use, took a software log with the built in logging tool and after the device finished mapping storage to a drive letter (Z:\, Y:\) I finally made a full backup using link which Ive copied and compressed an archive of to flashdrive and cloud storage.

Without the updates I think it wont work as easy or not at all.

So no usefuul information here, eh?
I just ran into the same issue. Been backing up with Link many times before. Just tried it again on my Passport SE (nothing but OTA updates, all official stuff).

It gets stalled on BlackBerry Runtime, but if I remove that from the list of items, it just moves on to something else and stalls there.
Got plenty of room on my drive, it's not that. Not sure what is going on. Is this part of BlackBerry's plan to drive us off BB10?

Okay, still no joy yet. Now I find it also fails with my Z10.
Phone is put in Airplane mode, which still doesn't change things.
I've checked my backups, my most recent was a couple of months ago on my Q10, but this was prior to the last OS update. My Z10 and Passport were backed up a few months before that and I'm pretty sure they had their OS updates already at the time.

It's still the same laptop that I've been running, on Windows 7 64-bit and basically has had no new software installed. The only changes would be the automatic OS updates that have been pushed out so far.

iTunes is installed but it's an old version that has always existed on this computer...
I've tried letting this thing run overnight, but still no luck, it's just hung. I'm not sure if letting it sit an entire day would be helpful..

3 computers, all have previously backed up successfully. Win 7 32-bit, 64-bit and Win10 64-bit
All 3 failed on both Z10 and Passport

Pulled out the Q10 and it backed up successfully, very fast actually.

Can't figure out the reason yet. All 3 run the same version of OS
Q10 is carrier unlocked model and had to receive the last update with autoloader, not OTA.

Yep, it's strange! When I had a Q10 all went without problems (using Link). My both Passports (a black and an SE) have given me mixed results, mostly negative, but have been able to selectively update a few apps with the SE. The result has been the same using Link or using Sachesi. For a while ago I bought a Z30 and had no problem at all using Darcy's BB tools. I'm sure it would work with Link as well.

There is some thread about cleaning windows registry from all traces of Blackberry and then make a clean install of Link again. I tried to do that but didn't succeed.

There is a new method (discovery) on how to get Link to work with Windows 10: https://forums.crackberry.com/blackb...-10-a-1161054/

Note: there is a security concern in Windows by opening this so be sure to close it down immediately after using Link.

Well I had a clean Windows 10 install and it was still no good with the Z10. Anyways my other computers run Win7.
After so many different machines, I'm thinking it is not the PC...

It's not a USB connection problem, it sees my device just fine, the backup just does not go past the runtime. On Windows I can see Link use a few % CPU so it isn't completely dead and it does have a bit of continuous disk activity.

I've never had a problem backing up any of my BB10 phones before.
I don't suppose there are any other backup options for a FULL (including apps) backup?
