I purchased a brand new Z30 for my wife. I'm trying to get her phone all set up with some pics of our son and some music. Link is just not responding when I hook up the phones, my Z10 included. I have Vista Home Premium running, nothing has changed except for updating to the latest version of Link. Everything just sits and twirls, media relationships syncing, but nothing ever happens. Has anyone had this experience. What about the device manager, is there something their that could be changed?

Go into BBW and make sure your Blend is up to date, refresh BBW then open the app under installed.

Vista is pretty old and it's probably not recognizing the newer drivers for BB Link.
I'd uninstall Link. Then re install it " as administrator" (right click on the set up icon)
If after you do that, you still have a problem. Right click the program and click "compatibility mode"

If that doesn't help, I'll give you more advice. But try this first!

At this point, Blend won't help you! You first have to get BB Link working!

So blend was a no go, I could not proceed because I am not running Windows 7 or 10.3.

Your not trying to do it under your BBID are you, cause it would have to be hers.

I'm doing it under both for both phones, I can't get either phone hooked up to Link right now.

This won't help with your problem with link, but to transfer the pics and music, why not just use a standard file transfer?

Using mass storage mode? I can try for my z10, however the other phone doesn't have a storage card. Solving the link issue would be my preference.

Try an older version of Link and see if that doesn't connect to your phones. http://www.filehorse.com/download-bl.../old-versions/

BlackBerry Link works even on Windows XP. Your issue is probably in your firewall/antivirus combo. I advise you to try again while disconnected from Internet and with your firewall/Antivirus disabled.

Put the phone in airplane mode then connect via USB. Usually works for me.

you can switch memory cards from one device to another.

    basically:
grab all photos in one device - copy to another.

I've uninstalled Link with revo unonstaller and reinstalled an earlier version. Now Link won't even run on my win 7 laptop. Nothing is working at this point. Now it just searches windows drivers when I hook up the device.

I've been struggling with link lately too. A few things I tried were:
    1: uninstall link
2: look for directories that are associated with them and delete them too
3:go to device manager and remove any blackberry device managers you find there
4: run cc cleaner and use the registry checker it will find a bunch of dead blackberry entries that it will then delete.
5: reboot and hook up the phone and re install link.

I'd like to say this worked for me but it didn't. It did get me about 99% back through the clean install only to have the program "roll back" and not complete

You may have better luck though

    Update from me:
Using the exact same Q5 and usb cord link installed and is working perfectly on a different windows 7 laptop. So it would seem to be related to the pc not so much the phone in my case anyways.

Update: reloaded win 7 on original problem laptop and re-installed link. After a few hiccups it's working fine now.

I have the Z30 working but the Z10 has the same problem, I am so frustrated, I'm calling tech support today. BBRY Tech support seem very knowledgeable when I've used them. I don't understand how I can not even bypass Link and drag and drop phones totally unrecognized by PC and Link.

Yep, blend will not install on vista. Usually all I have to do is turn WiFi off on my phone.

Just turn off all radios (airplane mode)and connect via USB . Can almost guarantee it will work. Just give it a few minutes to connect.
