I'm thinking of taking the plunge. Something that has had me waiting is this thing about leaks taking a day or a few days to settle in. I have not experienced this with the official releases. Is this a real thing, and if so, why the difference?

Not sure of the technical reason ,but personally I find that they settle in pretty quick. I just loaded 575 and mine is settling down already. It's only been a few hours. Now the battery may take a day or two to settle down.

I installed my first leak a week or so ago. It seems a bit daunting but if you follow the instructions its easy. It can be a bit time consuming but that's about it. Theres some good leaks in the forums, the one i'm using is 10.2.1.575 and it works great. I didn't really have alot of overheating or battery drain. Just charge it up after you install the leak. Everyone I've talked to here who has gotten a leak loves it, you won't be disappointed.

I just installed a leak last night and it needs definitely about a day or two to settle in.I have things that didn't work at first all of a sudden working fine.
You have to do a few restarts, even a battery pull and let it settle.
    I loaded 1767

Mostly refers to the battery. Generally you'll see better battery life after a few days or so. I've seen this with both official and leaked OS'.

When doing an official update it is non destructive. An autoloader is, so when you install most of the leaks the phone must reindex and resync all of your information. I do personally find that leaving the phone alone for a little while after setting everything up speeds up the process. I usually try to give it minimal use for an hour or so(try being the important word there), but I also have a lot of stuff including 60gigs on an sd card.

The official OS 10.2.0 rollout that happened a few days ago in SE Asia was based on 10.2.0.1767, so I upgraded to that from 1725. Pretty happy with it. Still have about 70% battery at the end of the day. Better 4G connectivity too.
