Guys - I've downloaded the updater (.exe) and have already backed up my Zed. Problem is, I'm on a mac and the .exe obviously won't run... and even from my Parallels Win7 image, after I run the updater and connect my berry, it doesn't initiate the upgrade (says waiting for bootloader). Do I have to put the berry in a special mode to get the bootloader to talk tot he PC?

    Thx,

as far as i know, you have to load the OS from a proper windows, which means, use a proper PC.

Yeah - that sucks, but I 'borrowed' my work PC this morning to do the job and it went well. I have a newly upgraded VZW Z10 and am restoring now. So hopeful that many of the fixes help my rebooting, SMTP and other issues. I was literally considering returning my Z10 this weekend and reviving the iPhone 5 until this leak came along.

hey guys, just wondering if there's a tutorial or something on how to install the leaked OS on the Z10, is it straight forward like the old BB's or is there a different process. thanks in advance for your help.

Mine is working better than before.
Contacts de-linked and linked them in a better way (cleaner with proper last and first names) and BlackBerry world does not have the star sign for no reason. Still evaluating battery performance etc.

Anyone knows what will happen when the release comes out in Europe? Will we be able to replace the leaked automatically or will we have to manually redo the update?

    It won't... it's an AT&T release.

The next OS update we'll see in Europe will almost definitely be 10.1

This would have worked fine with BootCamp or Parallels. You just needed to make sure that Host(mac) the BlackBerry was not mounted with that OS, and select the Connect to Windows under USB Connection in Setting on the device. Hope this helps in the future.

None whatsoever. I've been running the leak now for 24 hours and have yet to experience random reboots (I used to have them multiple times a day) - my iCloud email is working properly (no encoding issues or bounced email for malformed SMTP headers). Battery life was never bad for me before the upgrade, and remains good. The UI is completely responsive and, frankly, I'm at a loss to understand why VZW hasn't released this OS upgrade yet because I'm CERTAIN that their return rate would drop markedly if the new Zeds they were selling worked as well as mine does now.

This is copied from the comments on the news page.....
"Just make sure to put it on Airplane Mode, make a full backup with BB Link, and then take out the media card. Close up BB Link, then double-click the exe and it will open up command prompt, may ask for your device password if you have one, then continue to write to the ROM.

After that, battery pull, put in your media card, boot back up, finish on-screen set up, and go back to Airplane mode, then re-import the backup."

It does work on verizon but won't stop rebooting. mine rebooting as it did with current verizn OS. the performance of apps was much improved though. phone calls and 4g were perfect. so probably a good update in many was but not a reboot fixer.
