Removing unused language files (and other files like retaildemo) save good space on our devices' limited memory.

However, the file naming convention has changed for the languages and nuance languages files from previous 10.3.1 releases.

Does anyone have a summary of languages and corresponding files so that they can be removed selectively upon OS installation?

Edit: Blitz archive for 10.3.1.1151 US ENG only language.

I remove everything except the ones that are obviously ENglish. There are actually two variations: US and GB.

I also leave the one imf.root file. Usually something called root is important.

All the rest are pretty easy to figure out, if you need a specific language and want to hang onto it.

It's not a sticky, there was an old thread where I listed a bunch of bars I commonly remove. I remember Mecca got mad at me in there for not telling him about the PlayBook App Manager Chrome extension. He and I tested out a bunch of files to remove.

Good starting point but as you'll notice, 10.3.1.1151 has a different naming convention for the languages BAR files. They are not all grouped together nicely like in previous builds.

Take a look at the app BARs in the new leak.

I removed a language file that would not let me enter my password on start up. I fixed by reloading BARS. Any idea which BAR file that might be?

The naming has indeed changed in 10.3.1 but you can figure it out if you put some effort in it.

Most files that have a 2 or 3 letter prefix followed by an underscore and those same 2 or 3 letters are language files.

I removed most of them before install along with the usual suspects as the retail demo and the help files.

You can use Sachesi for most of them but if they are already present on your device due to a previous install they'll stay on.

Also I've found that Sachesi can't delete some files (like tutorial and help) so you're forced to use the Chrome extension to remove them as that does work.

Some redundant files can't be removed though.

Best of luck you guys, i'll post an updated list of removables tomorrow for 10.3.1 unless someone beats me to it.
